Privacy Policy for Sleepytime Storyteller

PRS Systems ("PRS Systems," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Sleepytime Storyteller application ("Sleepytime Storyteller" or the "App").

Sleepytime Storyteller is intended for use by adults to create personalized stories, illustrations, narration, and videos, including stories intended for children.

1. Information Used by Sleepytime Storyteller

Sleepytime Storyteller allows an adult user to provide information used to personalize stories and illustrations. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

• a child's first name or story name;
• age group;
• gender;
• an optional physical or visual description;
• story genre, mood, length, artwork style, and narration preferences;
• an optional story idea, storyline, series information, or other story instructions; and
• other text voluntarily entered into the App.

You should provide only information necessary to create the story. We recommend that you do not enter sensitive personal information, addresses, contact information, school names, or other information that could unnecessarily identify a child.

2. Information About Children

Sleepytime Storyteller is designed for adults creating stories for children. It is not intended for children to independently create an account or provide personal information to PRS Systems.

By providing information about a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you are otherwise authorized to provide that information for the purpose of creating personalized stories and illustrations.

We encourage users to minimize the personal information they provide about children.

Canadian privacy guidance recognizes that children may not always be capable of providing meaningful consent. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada takes the position that, except in unusual circumstances, parental or guardian consent should be obtained for children under 13 who cannot provide meaningful consent themselves.

3. How Story Information Is Used

Information entered into Sleepytime Storyteller is used only as necessary to provide the App's features.

The App uses OpenAI API services for functions including content moderation, story creation, production planning, illustration generation, narration, and transcription.

User-entered information may be submitted to OpenAI's moderation service to help identify inappropriate or unsafe content.

For story generation, information such as the child's story name, age group, gender, selected genre, story mood, story preferences, and optional storyline may be processed by OpenAI.

An optional child description is not used to generate the story itself. If provided, it may be included in image-generation instructions so that the child's appearance can remain visually consistent across generated illustrations.

Generated story text is also processed as necessary to create illustrations, narration, subtitles, and the completed story video.

4. OpenAI

Sleepytime Storyteller uses API services provided by OpenAI.

OpenAI states that data submitted through its API platform is not used to train or improve its models by default unless the API customer explicitly opts in to data sharing.

OpenAI may temporarily retain some API content for abuse and misuse monitoring. Under OpenAI's current API data-control documentation, many API endpoints have abuse-monitoring retention of up to 30 days. Retention differs by service; for example, OpenAI currently lists no abuse-monitoring retention for its transcription and moderation endpoints, while image generation and audio speech generally have retention of up to 30 days.

5. Information Stored on Your Device

Sleepytime Storyteller stores information locally on your device so that the App can operate and maintain your preferences and story history.

This may include:

• child/story profiles;
• story history and information used to help avoid repetitive stories;
• story preferences;
• generated story and production information;
• generated illustrations;
• narration and transcription working files;
• application settings; and
• locally maintained usage or transaction information.

Temporary files used to produce a story are replaced or removed as part of generating a subsequent story.

Completed story videos are saved to your device. Sleepytime Storyteller does not automatically delete completed videos. You control those files and may delete them from your device when you choose.

Deleting a child profile from the App may give you the option to delete that child's associated story history. If you choose to retain that history, it remains on the device until subsequently deleted or the App's local data is removed.

6. Information Received by PRS Systems

PRS Systems does not receive copies of your generated stories, child profiles, generated illustrations, narration, transcription files, or completed story videos through its normal account and usage system.

The PRS Systems server may receive and maintain information necessary to operate the App, including:

• an anonymous numeric Sleepytime Storyteller Account ID;
• application and version information;
• aggregate story, audio, image, and credit usage;
• account status and application synchronization information; and
• information associated with purchases and purchase processing.

Sleepytime Storyteller accounts do not require PRS Systems to collect an email address, username, or password identifying the individual user.

7. Purchases and Google Play

Purchases made through Sleepytime Storyteller are processed using Google Play Billing.

Google may process payment and account information according to Google's own privacy practices. PRS Systems does not receive your payment-card number through the App.

PRS Systems may receive and retain information needed to verify and reconcile purchases, refunds, cancellations, credits, and possible fraudulent transactions. This may include Google Play order identifiers, purchase identifiers or tokens, purchase dates, product information, quantities, status information, and the Sleepytime Storyteller Account ID associated with the transaction.

Some purchase and transaction records may be retained after an account is deleted where reasonably necessary for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, security, refund or purchase reconciliation, or other legal obligations.

8. Sample Videos and Bunny Stream

Sleepytime Storyteller uses Bunny Stream to deliver certain pre-generated sample videos.

These sample videos are created by PRS Systems and are not the user's generated stories. Child profile information, user-created stories, generated illustrations, narration, and completed story videos are not uploaded to Bunny Stream as part of this sample-video feature.

Like other internet content-delivery services, Bunny may process technical information necessary to deliver video content, such as network requests and related technical information.

9. Hosting and Processing Outside Canada

PRS Systems uses third-party service providers for services such as web hosting, artificial-intelligence processing, content delivery, and purchase processing.

As a result, information may be processed or stored outside Canada. Information processed in another jurisdiction may be subject to the laws and lawful-access requirements of that jurisdiction.

We do not represent that all information used by Sleepytime Storyteller remains within Canada.

10. Account Deletion

Sleepytime Storyteller provides users with a method to request permanent deletion of their PRS Systems Sleepytime Storyteller account.

Each account is assigned an Account ID and Deletion Code. The Deletion Code is used to authenticate an account-deletion request. PRS Systems stores a cryptographic hash of the Deletion Code rather than the plain-text code.

Account deletion may be initiated from the App. An external account-deletion method is also provided for users who no longer have access to the App.

When an account is permanently deleted:

• the PRS Systems account record is deleted;
• aggregate usage records associated with the account are deleted or anonymized as appropriate;
• the account's deletion credential is deleted; and
• a minimal temporary record may be retained documenting that the deletion occurred.

Purchase or transaction records may be retained where reasonably necessary for accounting, tax, security, fraud prevention, refund or purchase reconciliation, or legal purposes. Where appropriate, retained records will no longer be associated with an active Sleepytime Storyteller account.

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Deleting your PRS Systems account does not delete stories, profiles, images, or videos stored locally on your device. Those files are under your control and can be deleted from the device separately.

11. Account Deletion Without the App

If you no longer have access to Sleepytime Storyteller, you may request account deletion through the account-deletion page on the PRS Systems website.

You will need your Sleepytime Storyteller Account ID and Deletion Code so that PRS Systems can verify that the deletion request applies to your account.

Because Sleepytime Storyteller accounts are anonymous and PRS Systems does not normally collect an email address or conventional username associated with the account, PRS Systems may be unable to identify an account if both the Account ID and Deletion Code have been lost.

12. Data Retention

PRS Systems retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it is maintained, including operation of the service and applicable accounting, security, fraud-prevention, and legal requirements.

Information stored locally by the App remains on the device according to the App's functionality and the user's actions.

A minimal record of an account deletion may be retained temporarily for administrative and security purposes and then deleted according to PRS Systems' retention procedures.

Purchase and transaction information may be retained for a longer period where required for legitimate business, accounting, tax, security, fraud-prevention, refund, or legal purposes.

13. Security

PRS Systems takes reasonable measures designed to protect information handled by Sleepytime Storyteller.

Communications between the App and PRS Systems' server use encrypted HTTPS connections. Database credentials and other server credentials are maintained on the server and are not intended to be exposed through the account-deletion interface.

No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security. Users should also protect access to their device and should not share their Sleepytime Storyteller Deletion Code except when necessary to make an authorized deletion request.

14. Third-Party Services

Sleepytime Storyteller currently relies on third-party services that may include:

• OpenAI — AI moderation, story and production generation, image generation, text-to-speech narration, and transcription;
• Google Play — application distribution, billing, and purchase processing;
• Bunny Stream — delivery of PRS Systems' pre-generated sample videos; and
• GoDaddy — website and server hosting services used by PRS Systems.

These providers process information according to their own applicable terms and privacy practices.

15. Sale and Advertising

PRS Systems does not sell child profile information, generated stories, generated illustrations, narration, or story videos.

Sleepytime Storyteller does not use the personal information entered for story creation for targeted advertising.

16. Your Choices

You control the information you choose to enter into Sleepytime Storyteller.

You may:

• limit the information you provide about a child;
• omit the optional child description;
• delete child profiles and associated story history using available App controls;
• delete locally stored completed videos from your device;
• request deletion of your Sleepytime Storyteller account; and
• contact PRS Systems with a privacy question or request.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Sleepytime Storyteller's features, service providers, data practices, or legal requirements change.

When the policy is materially updated, the effective date at the top of this page will be revised. Where appropriate, additional notice may be provided through the App or website.
